Psalm 119:105 -Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
There is a story that circulates the internet about a captain of a ship. It’s the middle of the night and he sees a light far off in the distance and this light is directly in his path. The captain signals to this other ship to change its course to avoid a collision. The response the captain receives is “No, you change your course.” Again, the captain signals that the other ship must change its course and again the response is “No, you change your course.” This exchange goes back and forth a few times between the two.
Finally, the captain asserts his rank, states he is a large ship and demands the other ship to change its course. The final response the captain receives is “YOU change your course, this is a lighthouse.”
How awesome is it to know that God’s word lights our path? And how humbling is it to know that what we see illuminated in that path is not always what WE think it is, but if we trust the Lord and His word, in the end the path we are on will be as solid and grounded as a lighthouse! If our paths are lighted by God’s word, surely our hearts are lighted by His love.
