Psalm 43:3 -Oh send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; cannot be hidden. Let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your tabernacle. (NKJV)
As I thought about this verse over several weeks, I remembered an old hymn:
“The Light of the World is Jesus.” (Philip P. Bliss, 1838-1876)
The whole world was lost in the darkness of Sin;
The Light of the world is Jesus;
Like sunshine at noonday His glory shown in,
The Light of the world is Jesus.
Come to the Light, tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the light has dawned upon me;
Once I was blind, but now I can see;
The Light of the world is Jesus.
I had the privilege of visiting Israel again this year. I visited the place where “The Light” came into the world; where the angels sang about it to the shepherds watching their flocks; where “The Light” was placed in a stone manger, typical of that day. I visited villages where He visited, healing the sick and casting out demons; where “The Light” preached to five thousand and fed them with five loaves and two fish; where He spoke the Beatitudes and preached in a boat on the Galilee and, and...there’s so much more that I could tell you about this wonderful and amazing LIGHT who spoke only TRUTH. But, you need to discover this yourselves...about The Light and The Truth.
What a wonderful time, during this Advent season, to diligently seek “The Light” (our Lord Jesus Christ) through prayer and “The Truth” through reading the Bible.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we praise and worship you for being the light of the world and giving us the truth of salvation that we may have eternal life. Amen.
