MONDAY, DECEMBER 11
1 John 1:7 -But if we are living in the light. Then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
Rob and I met singing in the Chancel Choir at church. We still enjoy the fellowship the choir provides, the peaceful words of the anthems, and the joy of singing together.
There is a lot of music at our house and one of our daughters’ favorite songs is “Jesus Loves the Little Children”. A verse within this song is, “Jesus died for all the children” and one of the girls questioned us about what that meant. My first response was that it was complicated and we would discuss it later. However, upon reflection, I realized and explained to her that it is really quite simple. Everyone sins. Sin requires God’s forgiveness, and Jesus’ death gave that to us. When we live as God wishes, the death of Jesus becomes ours. Jesus paid the price for our sins, and we are made pure.
Perhaps the “complicated” part of that is attempting to “live in the light”, but through prayer, study, and practice we have something great to strive towards.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for sending Your Son as a model for living in the light and to purify us from our sins. Help us to live according to your standards in the Bible. We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen
