Forward

How is it possible that another year has passed since we last took time to read an advent devotional? This is my favorite time of the year. There is an excitement in the air. People are more friendly and giving. As we anticipate the celebration or the birth of our Savior, it is a time of to ask ourselves those serious questions of life and eternal life. This is also the busiest of times with many demands on our time which make it easy to get caught up in the excitement and to forget to take time to prepare for Christmas. As in the past, this devotional has been prepared to help all of us to take time to reflect, to ask ourselves those serious questions of life and eternal life, and to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ. As you will see, many of your friends and neighbors – the people you see in church each week – have taken time to prepare short devotionals to help us find that time necessary to reflect and toprepare ourselves to receive God’s great gift of grace. The Spiritual Formation Committee hopes that you will find this devotional a welcome and easily used tool to prepare yourself spiritually to celebrate the good news of the Gospel this Christmas. The good news is that God, in an act of infinite grace, through Christ, came down to earth in human form, and after living among us willingly chose to die for our sins that we might live with the hope of eternal life. May this Advent Season for you and your family be filled with joy, peace, love and the grace of God.
