2013 CONFIRMATION STUDENT COVENANT

The word “covenant” in the Bible is filled with rich history and meaning.  We will gain a better understanding of this word covenant as we go through our Confirmation Journey together.  For now, a covenant is simply an agreement between you and God that makes clear that you will do what you say you will do.

In taking God as a partner in our covenant, we recognize both that God is always faithful in holding up God’s end of the deal, and that we will need God’s help to hold up our end.  Thankfully, even when we fall short of keeping our covenant completely, God remains faithful to us.  So if you choose to sign this Confirmation Class Covenant, you are not primarily telling me you will do the following things, but you are promising God that you will do everything you can to uphold this covenant.

So please read the following covenant a few times over, discuss the time commitment with your family, and then prayerfully decide if you can join us on this Confirmation Journey.

I covenant with God to fully participate in the 2013 Confirmation Journey by:

  • Attending the Confirmation Orientation on Saturday, December 8th from 9:00-10:00am.
  • Attending all Confirmation Sessions (See Schedule).
  • Attending Sunday Morning worship services (8:15, 9:30, or 11:00am).  Take a bulletin and write a sentence about what the service was about each week and bring it to share with your mentor the following class meeting.
  • Attending the Ash Wednesday Service on February 13th.  Meet at 6:00pm and then attend the 6:30pm service together in the Sanctuary with your mentor and/or family.
  • Completing any assigned homework for each session (there will not be too much).
  • Scheduling and meet with Pastor Aaron between April 1-11 for your individual interview.
  • Attending the Confirmation Rehearsal, Celebration Lunch, and Baptismal Service on Saturday, April 13th from 10:00am-1:30pm.
  • Attending Confirmation Sunday during one of the three morning worship services AND the 2:00pm Confirmation Service on April 21st in the Sanctuary.  Please meet in the Chapel by 1:30pm that day.
  • Participating in the Bishop’s Confirmation Rally at NFUMC (March 9th) and Mission Day of Service (TBD).
  • Praying daily for your fellow Confirmands, Confirmation Leaders, and Mentor.

PARENT'S COVENANT

I covenant with God to make Confirmation a priority in my family’s life.  I will assist my Confirmation Student by attending worship with them, providing for their transportation to and from classes, engaging in conversation with them about what they are learning, and praying for them daily.
