My Spiritual Journey:
Growing up in the parsonages of United Methodist Churches in North Indiana Conference, a love for God and the Body of Christ came very early in my life. Attending Camp Adventure and Epworth Forest church camps I was nurtured in my faith and challenged with the realization that a relationship with God can not be inherited. Instead, I began to know God was a personal Savior, and a body Builder.
In college I explored careers in journalism, English, veterinary science, counseling, and finally found a home in teaching secondary education. As college was concluding I met my lifelong partner, Tim. Married in 1979, I began that Fall by teaching General Science, General and Advanced Biology and Physics at a combined Jr. and Sr. High School. When my first of three children was born I left teaching to stay home to work in my new missionary field, the lives of my children.
God continued to grow my faith and my ability to discern God’s will for my life. My call to ordained ministry came with a command, “Do it now!” Ready and willing I wrestled with what it was God wanted me to do right now. Through much prayer, conversation, and exploration, I began seminary in 1991 and was ordained as an Elder in the South Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2001. I entered ordained ministry with humility, knowing that I have become God’s instrument through God’s grace.
